Change Your World Scholarship
In March 2007 Doris Buffett, president and founder, announced a new scholarship program for the sons and daughters of graduates of the Women's Independence Scholarship Program (WISP) .
We believe education is the key to success. Every student who is capable, motivated and willing to work hard should have the opportunity to earn a college degree. Our scholarships are for those who show the greatest promise of success, have financial need and have made education their number one priority. We view each scholarship as an investment in an individual's future.
Following is the eligibility criteria:
- Academic Ability: Unweighted high school GPA > 3.0; we prefer SAT > 1500 or ACT > 21 or 3.0 cum college GPA
- Financial Need: Verified need (submittal of FAFSA and tax returns)
- Age Applicant is between the ages of 17 and 25
- Affiliation: Applicant is child of a Women's Independence Scholarship Program graduate.
Recipients are required to maintain a 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment status.
Funds are available for students attending 2 or 4 year colleges and universities. Schools must be accredited and may be public or private, however no proprietary schools will be considered. Preference is given for undergraduate students pursuing their first degree.
DEADLINES
Application deadlines are July 1 for Fall term and December 1 for Spring term.
AWARDS
• A maximum of 50 awards are available per academic year.
• Awards will not exceed $3,000 per recipient per academic year.
• Awards will be paid directly to the educational institution.
• Once selected as a participant, recipients may renew this scholarship for subsequent school years.
• Participants must complete their undergraduate program within 5 years.
